Autumn Term Learning
Welcome to Beech Class. My name is Mr Hurrell and I am your child’s teacher for this academic year.
In the morning we will have phonics followed by English and Maths.
In the afternoon we will explore our curriculum theme for the term. Our theme for the Autumn Term is ‘The Great Fire.’
As Historians we will be learning about the Great Fire of London. We will consider how the fire was significant and compare our lives to those that lived in this period of time.
As Geographers, we will be using maps to locate London and other cities in the United Kingdom. We will learn about the countries that make up the U.K. and the seas that surround it.
As Scientists we will learn about the different types of animals and the way we classify animals. We will learn about animals’ habits. We will also learn about humans and the way they use their different senses.
Important information
Reading books will be changed every Monday. Please ensure reading books and reading records are in your child’s book bag every day.
The expectation for Key Stage 1 is that your child reads four times a week.
Please ensure your child has a full PE kit in school so they can get changed for their lesson. PE days can change so having the PE kit in school means we can be flexible with PE lessons weather depending.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to speak to a member of the Early Phase Team.
