We would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about the Friends of Millfield, an independent group of staff and parents working in conjunction with the school as a registered charity, fundraising to provide those little extra's to benefit the children.
The Friends meet informally once a month for a chat and to arrange fundraising events for the school, including school discos, seasonal fayres, fun days, competitions and more.
As a charity we have a chairperson, a treasurer and a secretary along with parents and staff. We are always looking for new faces and new ideas and would welcome anyone who'd like to come along and get involved. If you would like further information regarding meetings please speak to the school office. Its a great way to get involved and learn more about your child’s school. All of the Friends are parents so for convenience we hold our meetings straight after school and welcome the children to come along too.
Over the last 3 or 4 we have been extremely successful with fundraising. We have been able to fund many things that the school would otherwise have to have gone without and it is important to know where fundraising monies go. Here is a small list showing some of the items we have been able to purchase due to the support of parents/families and staff.
New extension building, security railings, new digital cameras, nativity costumes, equipment for all in school and after school clubs, new staging for the hall, outdoor class seating areas, new Library furniture and books, new seating for the new IT Suite, new curtains for the Hall as the beginning of new improvements. All these items are important facilities that enable the children to advance their learning and also which provide a pleasant, comfortable, working environment too. (A complete list of fundraising items can be requested from school office).
So we say a very BIG thank you to everyone for their support. As you can see it’s a very worthwhile cause for which we hope, that together we continue our fundraising success.
With Thanks .. Friends of Millfield
