Summer Term Learning

Summer Term Learning

Beech Class is taught by Mrs Sabbatino. Mrs Halls and Mrs Ratcliffe are our amazing teaching assistants.

Every morning, we will enjoy some arithmetic or spelling challenges. We then have phonics and reading lessons followed by English and Maths.

In English this half term, our writing will be inspired by Grandad's Camper, a fun story about adventures and making memories. We will also do some creative writing based on the beautiful fantasy book, The Magic Bed.

In the afternoon we will explore our curriculum theme for this term. Our theme for the summer term is ‘Beside the Seaside.’

As Historians we will be introduced to Henry Blogg.  We will learn about his life and how he contributed to local society.  We will discover how holidays at the seaside have changed over the years comparing our own experiences with those in the past- including Henry’s!

As Geographers, we will explore the features along our local coastline, using aerial photographs to explore inland and coastline areas, noting key features and landmarks.

As Scientists, learning about habitats will be our main focus this term.  We will explore a variety of places and the creatures that live there and look at how the habitats provide the things they need to survive.

As Artists, we will explore the work of Andy Goldsworthy and create our own 'nature art'.

As Designers, we will design and make a healthy lunch for the 'lighthouse keeper' - one of many picture books we will be enjoying this term!
